IGCSE @ NEXUS

Welcome

IGCSE EXPLAINED

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is an externally-assessed, stand-alone qualification that allows learners to make choices in what they study and follow their passions.

Learners in Year 9 are facing exciting decisions about which subjects they would like to study as part of their IGCSE programme here at NEXUS. We hope the information on this site will provide learners and their families with the knowledge they need to make informed choices.

OPTIONS EXPLAINED

As part of the IGCSE programme, most learners will take four core subjects, one language and up to three electives. The diagram on the right shows you the range of subjects offered.

To support individual circumstances, e.g. those of elite athletes, it is possible to study fewer electives and create study periods during the school day.

If you are on the Bilingual and Multilingual Learner (BML) pathway, you will have fewer elective subjects to choose. This is explained in the diagram below.

Your programme of study should reflect your personal needs and goals. If you would like to discuss your options further, please contact the school.
